Get Writing 2012 !
Are you a writer based in or around St Albans? Are you seeking a little inspiration? Or maybe some high quality critique to help bring your work up to scratch? Or workshops to hone your writing skills? Do you want to be among people who understand what is to to be a writer? Then Verulam Writers' Circle is for you. Come and join us.
Our annual conference aims to educate, inform and, above all, inspire.
Conceived in 2006, launched in 2007 and now run by a crack team of VWC volunteers, Get Writing has gone from strength to strength, attracting over 150 delegates from around the country.
A central part of the Conference is our innovative 3 Minute Pitch, in which delegates (so long as they book early enough!) have the chance to pitch their projects to some of the most respected agents and editors in publishing
The venue for meetings will be St Michael's Church Hall*, except where stated.
On alternate weeks, we meet informally at The White Hart**. The emphasis tends to be on works-in-progress (and beer) and discussion (and beer).
All meetings begin at 8pm.
Why not come along? Other contibutors to the Workshops and Talks include an array of established literary figures from the area:
- Well-known and respected local journalist Melanie Dakin,
- Published romantic novelists Rosy Thornton and Sue Moorcroft,
- Historical romance writers Christina Courtenay and Jean Fullerton,
- Poet and snooker player turned novelist Jane Holland,
- Archivist Daphne Knott,
- Lawyer turned SF writer Toby Frost,
- Award-winning short-story writer and tutor Lesley Eames,
- Editor and literary guru Hilary Johnson,
- World-renowned musical professor TJ Blinko who also writes children's books,
- Artist and lawyer Jenny Barden - now venturing into historical fiction

This is the 35th issue of Flea Magazine and the first dedicated to St Albans. Very soon we'll have a PDF version of the 'hard copy' magazine available in the space below. This being the very same flea you'll find circulating libraries, selected surgeries and community outlets in and around your city.
